Nissen, the son of Abraham Brandes and Blime Pickholz, and his wife, daughter of Josef Kornberg and Sara Pickholz, were sent from their home in Vienna with their six children to Maly Trostinez in May 1942. (A seventh child died in childhood.)

Their mothers, Blime and Sara were sisters.

Nissen was known as Nathan in Vienna.  It is not clear if his name is in fact Nathan (Nosan) or Nisan (the month).
